The Future of Public Relations in a Changing World. By Ben Shaw

The B2B PR landscape is undergoing significant changes (and some challenges) as we race through the 2020s. Gone are the days of generic press releases, face-to-face media events, and heaving editorial teams and we must pivot to stay relevant.

Authenticity is top of the agenda, particularly when it comes to sustainability messaging. With new greenwashing legislation, it’s no longer responsible to talk the sustainability talk without substantial proof. Stakeholders are calling for more honesty, and that’s no bad thing. After all, learned experience and sharing sustainability challenges delivers real insight and can be learned from.

In addition, the virtual world is here to stay. Newsroom chiefs are not only more planet conscious, but they are also more budget conscious. They do not have the bandwidth or budget to fly their teams to press events around the world. So we must come to them – digitally. In person press events have become virtual ones, face to face interviews are now on video, and even the biggest trade shows now have significant digital elements. Virtual tools are enhancing the work of PR professionals.

At SE10 PR, we are excited about the future of public relations in this rapidly changing world. We are learning every day and keeping on the pulse of advancements. There’s certainly never a dull day in our (virtual) offices!
